It's 2016 & Let's Drive Along launches iOS App!

You were awesome and so was 2015. Thanks to you, we neared 10K registrations and heading north consistently. Last year was happening and to tell you, we enjoyed it thoroughly. We want to quickly update you about what happened in 2015 as we welcome 2016.
  • We received a lot of traction through Bangalore Traffic Police in their re-initiated car-pooling campaign in October. You may have noticed in 2014, BTP endorsing us as the sole carpool provider for Namma Bengaluru in its true sense.
  • We were awarded Disruptive Transport Connect Solutions from Facilities Management Worldwide for bringing in innovative, flexible and secure carpooling solutions, at 57th Facilities Management & Corporate Real Estate Conference.
  •  We strive to keep Namma Bengaluru with less traffic snarls, less polluted, that’s our goal. Radio One 94.3 recognized this and awarded us for our service to the city, working towards keeping Bengaluru At Its Best. This charges us to do more, and with you along, we will.
  • We partnered with Fever 104 on ‘Car-pooling Premier League’, get that! Groupies by car-poolers, quizzes and Mad Mornings with quirky RJ Shraddha, you chime in with your carpool buddies and bonding over it. Well, a perfect combination to beat the morning blues and we made going to the office much more interesting and fun for you.
  • As we were an early entrant to carpooling and transport solutions, Delhi Government consulted Let’s Drive Along for its new policy of odd and even numbered cars to ply alternate days on Delhi Roads. We were a part of the “Consultation on the car pool scheme with the pertinent stakeholders” and provided qualitative inputs to the government.

To top that, the awards, the recognition and the extended support that we received from fellow Bengalureans has been a gratifying experience. So to give it back, we have taken a step forward and have released iOS app and what better time than New Year!!

We wish you an interesting 2016 and happy carpooling.

Every car-owner can car-pool by LDA!

At Let’s Drive Along, we believe that we should leverage the usage of collective resources that we have with us as social beings. Collective resources have been the unspoken system of co-existence for social beings for eons now. But for the last few decades with advancement in every field, we have drifted away as we want things only for ourselves, be it for convenience or for pride and the same applies to our chosen means of travel. One of the prime reasons Let’s Drive Along exists is the exponential growth of traffic that gobbles up a great deal of daytime for individuals which could have been spent in doing things that they like to do. Now the reasons for traffic woes are quite simple, a mismatch between the ever-growing volumes of vehicles to the infrastructure that ceases to keep up the pace of this growth.

It’s evident that every day numerous car owners drive in the same direction and may be to the same destination all by themselves. In the business hubs, we find that hundreds of cars are from the same area. So why not travel in a single car while traveling to the same destination and reduce the number of cars on the road. Its needles to say, if three people with similar destination share a car, it would chuck out two - thirds of the cars from the roads, imagine what this equation could do on a larger scale. Although we are aware of this, are we practicing this?? May be because things have not been that easy for commuters to car-pool and also some of the questions related to choosing a co-commuter were unanswered.

At LDA, we have made it convenient, user-friendly and have also devised a mechanism to check profiles of users and create a condensed group that a user can choose to travel with. For example: I can lookup only those who are relevant for me – commuters from JP Nagar to Whitefield. Also another factor that stops people from pooling has been addressed. In native carpooling, users foresee a dependency on the person whom they have traveled with in the morning to tag along in the evening. For instance, commuters’ start from home between 7 to 9 am and if they have a threshold to reschedule the starting time to about 15 minutes, users can find commuters to car-pool with who match their time gate. Now in the evening, the same folks from that morning’s drive may not be able to sync up due to different or extended work schedules, can choose different co-commuters for the ride back home. LDA addresses the need for flexibility to make car-pooling effective and successful.

The social responsibility falls on each one of us to do our bit and make use of services like LDA to reduce traffic issues in Namma Bengaluru. Also, for our own sakes let’s remember the days that we were stranded for hours in rain and waiting for the next car to move by an inch, waiting to take our legs off the clutch and brake to accelerate - Try pooling, Try LDA!!

Let's Drive Along

When we at Lets Drive Along(LDA) heard the “Swachh Bharath” speech by our PM, we started thinking: What does cleanliness mean? Is it keeping our home neat and tidy? Or is it keeping our neighborhood clean?
Does cleanliness encompass only tangible materials? Does just keeping our neighborhood clean is sufficient? Should we not think beyond cleaning our home or neighborhood?
Let us take the issue locally and talk about “Swacha Bengaluru”. Our city was once called the “Garden City”, but over the years Bengaluru has been stripped from this title. We wonder why? One of the reasons obvious to our eyes is the pile of garbage we see lying around in every corner of the road. Apart from the tangible pile of garbage, the city also has seen a rise in respiratory problems especially among children. What is causing this? Does cleaning of the city ensure the health of our loved ones?
We at LDA believe that cleanliness not only means keeping our home and neighborhood tidy but also our environment tidy! Environment…….. Tidy……….. This is something of a mystery right! Survey shows that the main contributor to air pollution is vehicles (around 42%). To keep the environment tidy, an enormous effort is required to first understand the pros and cons. As far as the pros are concerned, it can be seen only when the cons are eliminated. For example the pros of having healthy children can be seen if the cons of air pollution is eliminated.  Pollution in the air is causing many health hazards and there are two ways in which this problem can be tackled.
  • By making our environment really green
  • By taking out as many vehicles from the road as possible
We play a small role by providing a carpooling platform - LDA which can help in reducing the number of vehicles on the road. Air and noise pollution can be controlled/reduced by reducing the number of cars on the road. We aim at not only stress free commute but also pollution free environment. The depletion of our protective ozone layer due to rise in pollution is a warning signal sent by Mother Nature, urging us to correct our ways. We promote carpooling as a healthier option for both individual and environment.
Please join hands with us in this endeavor and help us to spread this message to as many as possible. Let us dream of a cleaner and healthier “Bharath” and make it happen. If given some thought, reducing pollution is a collaborative effort. Let us help each other and make a difference to our lives and the society we live in. Hence the more people know and use LDA, the more closer we get to a pollution free environment. We join hands with various corporate`s and urge them to see the bigger picture. With us as a vendor, corporate`s begins to benefit by knowing their exact contribution towards greener environment.
We know this is not a change that can come about overnight. And, this is not easy. We also understand, it takes great effort for an individual to opt a car-pool by leaving comforts of driving one’s own car. We are committed to making your car-pooling experience a better by providing innovative, flexible, secure, measurable car-pooling platform exclusively for car-owners. If you have a car: then adopt to LDA, if not then spread the word for pollution free Bengaluru. We urge you to take the first step today! Try LDA: www.letsdrivealong.com
